The right tools, in the right place
Install Client on computers receiving support; it carries the managed diagnostics agent and protected administrator broker in the same setup. Install Companion on technician workstations that need the local Codex troubleshooting workflow. Both editions use the same trusted FMSPOS support edge; only Companion carries the large Codex CLI runtime. Managed installations report bounded categorical health and error signals; they never upload raw logs, command output, credentials, or customer files as telemetry.

The 47 MB Client includes the managed endpoint MSI but excludes the technician-only Codex CLI and host. The install package carries a Windows requireAdministrator manifest, so every launch requests standard administrator approval before it can install or repair FMSDesk. It is not Authenticode signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show its normal unknown-publisher warning. Verify the SHA-256, approve the prompts, and select Install. Its bootstrap obtains a short-lived device-bound enrollment and verifies the bundled MSI against the authenticated release manifest before installation. It contains no enrollment assertion, private key, OpenAI credential, or unattended password. For one-time support without automatic elevation, run the portable Client.

Companion includes the same managed endpoint MSI plus the pinned OpenAI Codex CLI and FMSDesk Codex host for authorized technicians. Its install package also requests standard administrator approval on every launch. It embeds no OpenAI credential and runs Codex only as the signed-in technician—not as the endpoint service or SYSTEM broker. Do not deploy this larger edition to remote client computers. It is unsigned and may trigger the normal SmartScreen warning. For one-time technician use without automatic elevation, run portable Companion.
Linux installation command
sudo apt install "$HOME/Downloads/FMSDesk-1.4.9-fmspos.1-linux-amd64.deb"
Run this after downloading on Ubuntu, Debian, or Linux Mint. The package installs FMSDesk and enables its background service.
macOS unsigned-build notice & installation
bash "$HOME/Downloads/FMSPOS-RustDesk-macOS.sh"
Run this after downloading. The installer detects Apple silicon or Intel, verifies the pinned SHA-256, and replaces FMSDesk with rollback protection. This preview is not Developer ID signed or notarized. If macOS blocks its first launch, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway; never disable Gatekeeper globally. Accessibility and Screen Recording approval is still required.
